Sing With Choral Society of Middle Georgia
The Choral Society of Middle Georgia welcomes singers of all vocal ranges who share our love of choral music. We are an inclusive choral society that is dedicated to giving anyone with the desire and ability to sing an opportunity to do so. We encourage new members to lift their voice with fellow choir members.
Membership is open to everyone, regardless of race, ethnic origin, national origin, gender, gender expression/identity, sexual orientation, religion/creed, marital status, or military status. Singers with physical disabilities which don’t prevent them from producing adequate vocal sounds will be assisted in every way practical.
How to Join
The Choral Society of Middle Georgia holds initial meetings with prospective choir members during July and August by appointment. Interested singers may also join the chorus at other times throughout the year by special request.

Initial Meeting With the Artistic Director
The Choral Society of Middle Georgia does not conduct formal auditions for new members; instead, the artistic director meets with interested members individually to assess vocal range and other qualifications. During the initial meeting, the singer will be evaluated on the following:
- Ability to learn music independently
- Pitch accuracy
- Singing volume
- Abilities with vocal blending
After your meeting, we request that you attend all rehearsals until you receive acceptance results, since rehearsals missed before official acceptance will count as absences. Acceptance results are normally sent by email after all initial meetings have been completed. (Should you meet with the artistic director outside of the July/August window, you will likely receive your results faster.)

Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held August-May on Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Weekly rehearsals are held in the choral rehearsal room of the McCorkle Music Building at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.

Performances
The concert season runs from fall to spring, and we hold four performances per season. Our fall and spring concerts vary in musical works and content, and our annual winter holiday concert is a performance of Handel’s Messiah, featuring the Christmas portion of the work, concluding with the popular “Hallelujah Chorus.”
Membership Dues and Fees
The Choral Society of Middle Georgia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and supports itself through membership dues, concert ticket sales, corporate and individual donations, and grants.
To join our choir, we require annual membership dues of:
$100 for an individual membership
Members are able to pay their dues in full at the start of each new season, or they can split dues into two equal payments in the fall and spring.
Members are also responsible for purchasing their music, which averages $20-25 per performance.
